Richard Ayres UK premiere and CD release

The UK Premiere of Richard Ayres' No.42 (In the Alps) will take place in London's Queen Elizabeth Hall on Wednesday 17th March.  Performed by the extraordinary soprano Barbara Hannigan and the London Sinfonietta conducted by Martyn Brabbins, Ayres' lyrical melodrama tells the story of a young girl who grows up alone in the mountains, singing among the goats, until one day the local village trumpeter is entranced by her voice and sets out on a journey to find her.

The UK premiere of No. 42 also coincides with NMCs release of a new Richard Ayres CD which includes No. 37b for orchestra, No. 36: NONcerto for Horn and No. 31: NONcerto for Trumpet.  The disk has already received rave reviews from Gramaphone and the Guardian and for more information and audio samples visit the NMC website.
