Atsuhiko Gondai featured on The Philharmonia Orchestra's Music of Today Series

Atsuhiko Gondai makes an appearance in London this month for performances of his music with the Philharmonia Orchestra. One of the most prominent young composers currently emerging from Japan, Gondai will be the focus of a Music of Today concert at the Royal Festival Hall in London on Tuesday, March 9. The program includes his works wood still says nothing for solo marimba, performed by Stephen Burke, and Rapid Welcoming Descent for soprano and ensemble, featuring soprano Emma Morwood and conducted by Clark Rundell. The composer also engages in a conversation with Music of Today's Artistic Director Julian Anderson.

While in London, Gondai is also taking the time to spend an afternoon with composition students from the Royal College of Music, guiding them through some of his own compositions and discussing wider aspects of his compositional aesthetic.
