240 Years of Schott Music – A Whole World of Music

This year we celebrate a milestone anniversary: 2010 marks 240 years of music published by Schott Music. Over the centuries, the family company from Mainz has turned into an international market leader with products and services centred around music. As at the time it was founded, the publishing house is still family-owned, and today, as in the past, the company sees itself not only as a commercial enterprise but also as a company with its own cultural mission to promote and spread the best music of the time.

The names of great composers from four centuries represent the publisher's tradition: amongst them Mozart, Beethoven, Wagner, Orff, Stravinsky, Ligeti, Henze, and Penderecki. From the very beginning, Schott has seen itself as an international company, setting up subsidiaries in Europe and even Australia in the early 19th century. Today, the company owns subsidiaries in ten countries.

We continue to look forward to exciting new books and sheet music editions, to CDs and DVDs, to world premieres of many new works and to an exciting anniversary year.
