O Fortuna tops The People's Classical Chart
O Fortuna from Carl Orff's Carmina Burana has been named the 'most listened to piece of classical music' in a new poll. The People's Classical Music Chart, was compiled by PPL for BBC Radio 2 and charts the most played pieces of classical music over the past 75 years.
Aside from regular concert performances, the work has been heard in many different guises over the years - from advertising aftershave to anthems at football clubs, it's a perennial favourite that is recognised the world over.
Schott publishes all of Orff's music which includes numerous operas as well as the Schulwerk method of teaching music to children which he devised.
