British Composer Awards 2009

BASCA, the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors recently announced the shortlist for the British Composer Awards which included nominations for Schott composers, Alexander Goehr, John Casken and Kenneth Hesketh.

Goehr's masterful fantasy for string quartet and percussion, Since Brass nor Stone, was shortlisted in the chamber category, Casken's The Dream of the Rood which was first performed by the Hilliard Ensemble is in the vocal category and Hesketh was shortlisted in the wind band section.

The winners will be announced on Tuesday 1st December and broadcast on Radio 3 on the 2nd December.
