Kenneth Hesketh – Honorary Professor at Liverpool University
This month, the University of Liverpool announced renowned Liverpool-born composer, Kenneth Hesketh, as an honorary professor. Hesketh is currently “Composer in the House” with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, a two-year residency which has included the premiere of eight new works including Graven Image at the 2008 Proms and Wunderkammer(konzert) which opened Ensemble 10/10s 2008 2009 season.
In addition to being awarded an honorary professorship, the prestigious classical music journal The Musical Times currently features Caroline Potter’s interview with Hesketh titled “Unreliable Machines” in its winter issue. Potter’s article, which coincides with the composer’s 40th birthday celebrations, sets Hesketh’s thoughts and views out with great clarity, a valuble resource for anyone interested in exploring Hesketh's music.
Hesketh’s latest work, PatterSongs, which has been written for the Liverpool Philharmonic Youth Orchestra will be premiered at Liverpool’s Philharmonic Hall on 17th May 2009.
