Alexander Goehr - World Premiere
Alexander Goehr’s new work, Overture, which was written for the Countess of Munster Trust to celebrate its 50th anniversary, will receive its world premiere, directed by John Wallace, on Sunday 2nd November at a private concert in Glyndebourne. The new work, which is scored for two clarinets, two horns, two trumpets, tuba and timpani, is an energetic fanfare-like opener at just 3 minutes in length.
Alexander Goehr received support from the Countess of Munster Trust in his early career and was delighted to be able to write this ‘overture’ to celebrate the work of the trust and in particular its support for young composers and musicians.
