Eötvös - Seven ˇ UK Premiere
Peter Eötvös' memorial to the victims of the 2003 Columbia space shuttle disaster will receive it's UK premiere on the 27th August at the BBC Proms. Eötvös' first violin concerto Seven will be performed by soloist Akiko Suwanai in the Royal Albert Hall with the Philharmonic Orchestra.
Eötvös describes the work as a "very personal monologue and the musical expression of my sympathy towards the seven astronauts who lost their lives while exploring space in fulfilment of a fundamental dream of mankind."
The performance will follow the success of his latest opera Love and Other Demons which was premiered earlier this month at Glyndebourne, the opera will be showing until the end of August.
