Work of the Week - Rodion Shchedrin: Boyarina Morozova

Rodion Shchedrin's choral opera Boyarina Morozova will be awarded the ECHO KLASSIK 2008, for the category "Best Opera Recording - 20th/21st Century". The award-winning CD has been released by the Schott label WERGO, performed by conductor Boris Tevlin and the Chamber Choir of the Moscow Conservatory.
The awards celebration takes place on October 19th in Philharmonie am Gasteig in Munich, and is broadcast live on German Television (ZDF). The prestigious award is the most important German prize for classical recordings and is offered annually by the ZDF and the German Phono Academy.
