Hesketh, Casken and Gilbert in Liverpool

On Saturday 23rd February, Ensemble 10/10, the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic's new music ensemble, will be performing a showcase of British music at Liverpool's The Cornerstone.  Curated by Kenneth Hesketh, the RLPO's Composer in the House, the event, titled "Beasts and Wild Bells", has been billed as "a concert of colours and contrasts".

The centrepiece of the concert will be Hesketh's Music for a Distant Drum, a setting of classical Arabic, Persian, Turkish, & Hebrew Poems for Baritone and Ensemble.  John Casken's Music of the Crabbing Sun, a Dylan Thomas inspired work for flute, oboe, cello and harpsichord and Anthony Gilbert's Saxophone Quartet, Quartet of Beasts will also be featured in the concert.

A reduced programme featuring the Hesketh and Casken will also be performed on Friday 22nd February at Sheffield's Town Hall.
