Tippett - The Complete Piano Music

Celebrated pianist, Steven Osborn, has recently recorded the complete piano music of Sir Michael Tippett. The double CD release by Hyperion records, recorded with both Osborn and the BBC Symphony Orchestra conducted by Martyn Brabbins, has been labelled a “monumental achievement” by the Sunday Times and has received rave reviews across the press including a full feature in specialist record collecting magazine Fanfare.

 

The recording also coincides with the publication of three new Tippett Eulenberg study scores. Tippett’s Piano Concerto, which features on the recording, A Child of Our Time and Ritual Dances Ritual Dances have all been carefully prepared and are currently available from the Schott Music website or music retailers.

 

And, anticipating the 10th anniversary of Tippett's death in January 1998, the LSO present a pair of concerts featuring Tippett at London’s Barbican Centre on 16 and 18 December. The programmes comprise the Piano Concerto   performed by piano virtuoso Lang Lang (16 Dec) and A Child of our Time  (16 and 18 December) with Colin Davis conducting the London Symphony Orchestra.
