Work of the Week - Herbert Willi: ego eimi

To mark Mozart‘s 250th birthday in 2006, Herbert Willi has composed the clarinet concerto ego eimi which has been commissioned by the Salzburg Festival and will be premiered at the Felsenreitschule in Salzburg on 20 August 2006. The soloist will be the clarinettist Sharon Kam. The clarinet concerto is the third part of his cycle "Montafon" which comprises the Concerto for trumpet and orchestra Eirene and the Double Concerto for flute, oboe and orchestra …geraume Zeit… 2006 is also an important year for the composer as Herbert Willi has celebrated his 50th birthday almost on the same day as Mozart his 250th.
